For the past twenty years I owned and operated Melines Lodge and Guide Service on Lake of the Woods in Nestor Falls.  Unlike most lodge Owners or Managers, I bought the lodge so that I could guide every day possible, usually 80 days or more a summer fishing plus hunting.  We offered Guide Service on many of the local lakes but mostly different areas of Lake of the Woods.  I sold Melines Lodge last Oct/2025 and now operate Lake of the Woods Guide Service.  I have always been an avid angler thru all 4 seasons.   

At the age of 15, I started guiding at Branson’s Lodge on Great Bear Lake, in what was then, the NWT.  That was 1977.  Since then, I have not missed a full season working as a fishing guide in many remote areas in northern Manitoba and Ontario including Knee Lake, Lake Ontario, Lac Suel, Gunisao Lake, Bolton Lake, Molson Lake, the Red River, Winnipeg River, English River and over 30 years on Lake of the Woods.
